The Way We Wore
The Historic Costume & Textiles Collection
The University of Delaware Historic Costume and Textiles Collection was organized in 1971. Housed in the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies, the Collection consists of nearly 4,000 women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing artifacts, textiles from the 18th through the 21st centuries, as well as, traditional items of dress from countries and cultures around the world. As a repository of history and material culture, the collection serves as a resource for undergraduate and graduate research, teaching, and community outreach.
